The first flower of spring, the crocus is a symbol of hope for all Canadians living with vision loss. The CNIB is a nationwide, community-based, registered charity committed to research, public education and vision health for all Canadians. CNIB provides the services and support necessary for people to enjoy a good quality of life while living with vision loss. The Royal LePage Shelter Foundation

The non-profit Royal LePage Shelter Foundation focuses on enabling women and children to live safe, healthy lives, and reach their full potential unhindered by violence.

This year, at the National Chairmans Awards, Karen was priveldged to participate in a group donation to a women's shelter in Puerto Rico. Teams of Royal LePage agents from across Canada were given lists of items to purchase for the shelter at the local Puerto Rican Walmart. Each team was given $500 from Royal LePage and a list of items most needed for women's shelter (baby food, clothing for all ages, pillows, blankets, etc). The twelve teams of agents donated an additional $500 to $800 dollars bringing the donation total to over $7,000. Royal LePage along with AMJ Campbell (moving company) paid for and installed screens for all of the windows in the shelter. Lack of screens on the windows meant an infestation of insects as well as bats which increased the risk of disease. With the help of these screens and the truck load of purchases from Walmart, Karen is happy to report that due to Royal LePage, the mother's and their children in this shelter will be made as comfortable as possible during their rough road ahead.
